Umbrella, Events and Travel Insurance
Personal Umbrella Insurance Policy (PUP)
A PUP provides extra liability limit protection in excess of your auto and homeowner’s liability limits, in case of unforeseeable events.
A typical PUP provides coverage for additional liability, property damage or for defense and settlement protection.
An insurance policy of this type provides coverage in the event that the reception venue no longer operates as a business and the deposit is lost and another venue must be sought. This policy will cover cancellation of the event as a result of catastrophic weather or the bridal shop ceases operation.
Valuable Possessions and Specialty Items
Most homeowners’ policies offer limited coverage for personal articles like jewelry, musical instruments, cameras, computer equipment, fine art and collectibles. An additional policy can be purchased to sufficiently cover the value of the personal items.
Most homeowners’, renters and other policies do not cover flood damage. A general flood policy covers damages to your home and personal property caused by the overflow of water, accumulation or run off of surface water and mudslides caused by flooding.
Flood insurance is optional. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), it is required that a flood insurance policy is required by the mortgage lender.
